Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Website Copier ("we", "us") collects and how it is used. It covers the Website Copier Chrome extension, the website websitecopier.app and the Website Copier plugins for ChatGPT and Claude (together, the "Services"). By using the Services you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
Our principles
- This policy should be short and easy to read.
- We collect as little as possible and keep it only as long as needed.
- What we do with data should match what you would reasonably expect.
Information we collect
The Chrome extension. The extension saves pages on your computer. The pages you save, their content and your browsing history are not sent to us. Your download history (the last 100 saves) is kept only in your browser.
The website. After you install the extension, it opens our Welcome page. The page sends us one anonymous event: that it was opened, whether the extension icon is pinned, and your browser language (two letters). We keep only daily totals. To prevent abuse, your IP address is turned into a one-way code that is kept for at most 7 days; the IP address itself is not stored. We do not use cookies or third-party analytics.
The ChatGPT plugin. When you ask ChatGPT to save a page, our server receives only the link to that page. It downloads the page's HTML, tells ChatGPT whether an offline copy will work, and does not store the link. We keep only daily totals of checks. The page itself is saved by ChatGPT, not by our server. Your conversation is handled by OpenAI under its own privacy policy.
The Claude plugin. The plugin saves pages inside Claude's own code sandbox. It does not send the link or the page to us. Your conversation is handled by Anthropic under its own privacy policy.
Emails. If you write to us, we receive your email address and your message.
How we use information
- To provide, protect and improve the Services.
- To answer your questions and requests.
- To prevent abuse and to comply with the law.
When we share information
We do not sell your information and do not show ads. Our server is hosted by Fozzy, a hosting provider that stores data on our behalf. We may disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users and the public, with your consent, or as part of a transfer of the Services to a new owner.
Data retention
Daily totals are kept to understand how the Services are used; they do not identify anyone. IP codes are deleted after at most 7 days. Emails are kept as long as needed to answer you.
Your rights
You can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to its use. Write to kan.bizh@gmail.com. You may also contact your local data protection authority.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, but no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
Children
The Services are not directed at children under 13. If we learn that we hold personal information of a child under 13, we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
